The Story Behind the Photo

Moraine Lake and Wenkchemna Peaks, Banff National Park, Alberta
Sept 11, 2006

I'd been standing at this iconic Rocky Mountain location since well before sunrise, waiting for the light to materialize in the sky. At daybreak,
there were only a few seconds of brilliant orange sunlight bathing the peaks - before the sky became consumed by clouds. I wasn't satisfied with
what I'd captured, so I waited for the light to come back. A couple hours (and many overcast photos) later, the clouds broke to reveal an idyllic blue sky.
I stood nearly speechless admiring the reflections of the Wenkchemna peaks in the glacier-fed waters of Moraine Lake.
