About Ethan...

Ethan Meleg is a professional outdoor photographer from Ontario, Canada. He specializes in photos of outdoor recreation, natural landscapes, birds and wildlife.

Ethan grew up near world famous birding hotspot Point Pelee National Park and often skipped classes to chase songbirds during migration. By the time he was a teenager, he had developed an in-depth knowledge of nature and joined the champion  Kowa 'Canadian' Birding Team. At 19, he received a hand-me-down camera from his parents and began to learn the basics of nature photography. In between watching birds and taking photos, he miraculously completed a degree in Environment and Resource Studies at Trent University. Before becoming a pro photographer, Ethan enjoyed a 10 year career as a communications specialist and manager with Parks Canada, working at 3 different national parks in Ontario.

A self-taught photographer, Ethan's photos have been published by National Geographic, Ranger Rick, Forbes, Canadian Geographic, Popular Photography, Wyman Calendars, Lonely Planet, Cottage Life, Birder's World, Wildbird, National Wildlife, Nature Canada, ON Nature, Canoe & Kayak and many more. He also writes the humour column in every issue of Outdoor Photography Canada magazine.

Ethan is just finishing a year-long photo adventure traveling around North America in a VW camper van. His great passion in life is exploring the natural world through his camera, whether on exciting trips or in his own backyard.
